On Saturday, June 16, Greenbrier Valley Theatre (GVT) will honor the generosity of their patrons at a Sidewalk Star Reveal at 11:30 a.m. in front of the theatre on Washington Street in downtown Lewisburg.

Among those being honored is the late Betsy Rawlins Myers. GVT looks forward to seeing the friends and family of the late Mrs. Myers along with GVT patrons, volunteers and staff. Remarks will be given by Greenbrier Valley Theatre Board of Trustees member Joe Buttram.

“We are honored to celebrate the legacy left by these wonderful people and their support of Greenbrier Valley Theatre,” said GVT Development Manager Sofia Crowell. “Community support is a cornerstone of this theatre, and we are grateful to those who give.”

Myers was a long-time friend of GVT. She relocated to the Greenbrier Valley for a teaching position in the early 1980s having been drawn to the area by the sense of community and the small, but flourishing, art scene. Her love of theater inspired her to audition for a play at GVT. This was the start of her life-long involvement with GVT. After appearing in several productions, she went on to help with fundraisers, benefits, festivals, and ushered for many, many shows. When she had children, she encouraged them to pursue their creative endeavors through the arts and they too found an artistic home with GVT.

Myers was a believer that art, music, dance, and storytelling bring joy and meaning to life and are some of the most important aspects of the human experience. She would be proud to know that her support for the arts will live on through the Greenbrier Valley Theatre and the Lewisburg community.

The bronze sidewalk stars are embedded in the sidewalk with the names of GVT patrons who have generously donated to the theatre. The collection of names creates a Walk of Fame in downtown Lewisburg to be seen by generations to come.
