Union – Edith June Nichols, 80, went to be with the Lord Friday, May 11, 2018, at Carillion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
June was born June 1, 1937, in Rainelle to the late Jesse Walter and Edith Inez Freeman Flint.
June was a member of the Union Church of God. June was an avid quilter and she loved spending time with her family and looked forward to Sunday game time. June retired from B.F. Goodrich in Union.
Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Dick” Nichols; and a brother, Jimmy Flint.
Survivors include daughters, Teresa Nichols Broyles and husband Randy of Ronceverte and Joan Nichols Painter and husband Greg of Alderson; sons, Richard “Rick” Nichols and wife Pam of Union, Dr. James Robert “Bob” Nichols and wife Ronda of Waynesboro, PA, and Dan Nichols of Fincastle, VA; grandchildren, Dr. Jared Surbaugh and wife Lauren, Kevin Surbaugh, Alex Nichols, Ashley Nichols, Lindsey Reed Ratliff and husband Chris, Kelsey Reed Fullen and husband Trevor, Rylan Nichols, Travis Broyles and Kristi Broyles Newman and husband Scott; great-grandchildren, Emma Surbaugh, Eli Surbaugh, Carson Black and Ainslee Newman and soon to be two more great-grandchildren; sister, Charlene Crouse and husband Rodney of Hico and Donald Flint of Lookout; and her pet Boston Terriers, Rudy and Casper. Also surviving are two special children she baby-sat when they were young, Cammie and Lane.
A visitation was held to share and cherish memories of June on Monday night, May 14, at the Union Church of God.
Funeral services were held the following day, Tuesday, May 15, at the Union Church of God where Pastor Michael K. Smith officiated. Burial will follow in Wallace Memorial Cemetery in Clintonville.
