The Ronceverte Tree Board held its 17th annual Arbor Day Celebration on Tuesday, Apr. 24, downtown.

Ronceverte was named a 2017 Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation in honor of its commitment to effective urban forest management, and is the oldest Tree City community in Greenbrier County. The Arbor Day was recognized with the planting of a Kousa Dogwood along Edgar Avenue.

“Tree City USA communities see the impact an urban forest has in a community first hand,” said Dan Lambe, president of the Arbor Day Foundation. “Additionally, recognition brings residents together and creates a sense of community pride, whether it’s through volunteer engagement or public education.”

“We appreciate the support in our urban tree program provided by the WV Division of Forestry,” says Hylton. “Without their programs on tree care and assistance to Ronceverte, we would have made such an impact in the landscaping of our downtown these past 17 years.”
