The Greenbrier Valley Chorale will present its Spring concert, Reflections in Song: Rivers, Rain, Oceans and Tears, at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, at Carnegie Hall in Lewisburg, WV.
The Spring concert will feature an enchanting mix of music with water as its theme. Selections include Seal Lullaby by Eric Whitacre; Simon and Garfunkel’s Bridge Over Troubled Water; Aaron Copland’s setting of At the River, based on Shall We Gather at the River; Crossing the Bar by Gwyneth Walker, based on the poem by Alfred Lord Tennyson; and an authentic arrangement of Down in the River to Pray. Percussionist Sarah Hann will accompany the choir on Kawouno Wan Gi Pi. Sung in the Dholuo language of Kenya, it is a stirring celebration of the gift of water to the land in the form of rivers and rain.
