On Mar. 8 and 9, five students represented Lewisburg Elementary School at the West Virginia Music Educators Association conference in Charleston. Fifth graders Claire Wills, Ashley Meadows, Gavin Cherry, Parker Hale, and Mollie Pack were selected to participate in the 2018 West Virginia All State Children’s Chorus. The students prepared eight songs outside of school hours. At the conference, students rehearsed the songs together under the direction of choral composer and director Greg Gilpin, and performed the final concert at the Charleston Municipal Auditorium on Friday, Mar. 9. This was a great experience for the students, providing an opportunity to grow as musicians and experience what it’s like to create music with students from all over the state of West Virginia.
