Kelli O’Hara as Despina in Mozart’s Così fan tutte
Greenbrier Valley Theatre (GVT), in partnership with the Met: Live in HD, presents Così fan tutte.
This exciting reimagining of Mozart’s work will stream live on Saturday, Mar. 31, at 12:55p.m. and will last approximately three hours and 20 minutes, with one intermission. Dr. James Caplinger from the University of Charleston will give a complimentary lecture beginning at 12:15 p.m.

Phelim McDermott directs this cleverly updated vision of Mozart’s love story starring Kelli O’Hara and Christopher Maltman as the conspirators Despina and Don Alfonso. The production also features the performances of Amanda Majeski, Serena Malfi, Ben Bliss and Adam Plachetka as the lovers Fiordiligi, Dorabella, Ferrando and Guglielmo, and is conducted by David Robertson.
McDermott’s interpretation is a unique and modern look at a classic tale, set in 1950’s Coney Island. The director has a résumé that dates back to 1984, and his history with the Met includes The Enchanted Island, Philip Glass’s Satyagraha (debut, 2008) and the 125th Anniversary Gala. Along with that, he is a co-founder of the theater company Improbable, won an Obie Award for 70 Hill Lane, an Olivier Award for Shockheaded Peter and so much more.
