With nearly 200 braving the wind on Mar. 2 to attend the Lenten fried or baked fish dinner at the Parker Community Center at Emmanuel United Methodist Church in downtown White Sulphur Springs, Grand Knight Perk Berry reminded patrons that there are only two more dinners scheduled this month, on Mar. 16 and 23.
For the first three dinners, over 650 patrons were served meals of fried or baked tilapia, scalloped potatoes, cole slaw, hard rolls, desserts, and drinks. The dinners are served from 4:30 to 7 p.m.
Sponsored by the Alleghany Highlands Council 8689 Knights of Columbus, the dinner proceeds benefit many area charities including the after prom and after graduation alcohol and drug-free parties at Covington, Alleghany, Greenbrier East, Greenbrier West, and James Monroe High Schools as well as other community, youth, church, council, and service projects.
Additionally, extra food prepared for the dinners are delivered that evening to an area shelter for those in need.
For further information on these dinners, telephone the office of the Catholic Churches of the Greenbrier Valley 304-536-1813.
