White Sulphur Springs – Hershall Eugene Godfrey, 40, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018, at the Brian Center in Fincastle, VA.
Hershall was born Dec. 5, 1977, in Ronceverte, the son of Odessa Mae Godfrey and Eugene A. Gooch both of White Sulphur Springs.
He was a member of New Vision Baptist Church, loved to cook and had been a chef at the Sporting Club at The Greenbrier Hotel, was on the Dean’s List his last year at White Sulphur Springs Junior High and was a captain on the Greenbrier East High School during his playing days there.
Surviving Hershall other than his parents are his children, Micaela Reed of Ronceverte, and Kylee Godfrey and Braylen Godfrey both of White Sulphur Springs; mother, Odessa Godfrey and father, Eugene Gooch both of White Sulphur Springs; half-sisters, Mary Elizabeth Beverly and Michelle Cooley; adopted sister, Akiva Martin; God brother, Stevie Damon; nephews, Andre and Brandon Tolliver; aunts and uncles, Lloyd and Kathleen Robertson, Shirley Fowler, Catherine Cook, Margaret Taylor, Charlotte Gooch, Steward Frank Godfrey, Frank Godfrey, Timothy Godfrey, Gillie Godftey, Ellen Beverly, Charles Gooch, Robett Gooch and Dreama Cluver; cousins, Edna Gooch, Jasmine, Isiah, Chasity, Rahzell, Dominique, Malcom Bevedy, London, Alicia, Camila, Natasha, Kizzy, Tia Mattox, Alice Beverly, Harold Beverly, and a slew of other family members.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 28, at 12 noon at the White Sulphur Springs Civic Center with Pastors Kathy Holland, Clayton and DeLawrence Godfrey officiating. Interment will follow in Green Hill Cemetery in White Sulphur Springs.
The family will receive their friends from 11 a.m. until time of services at the Civic Center or anytime prior at the home of his mother Odessa.
