Fairlea-Nelson Lee Munsey, 89, passed away on Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, at Peyton Hospice House, in Fairlea, after a short illness.
Nelson was born Aug. 15, 1928, in McComas, WV, to Albert Hugh and Ruth Stafford Munsey.
He was a graduate of Bramwell High School. After their marriage, he and Pat settled in Lewisburg, and for 42 years, Nelson was a sales representative for Bluefield Distributing Company. Upon his retirement, Nelson spent much of his time with his friends on the golf course at the Lewisburg Elks Club.
Nelson was a Noble of the Greenbrier Valley Shrine Club, a member of Lewisburg Elks Lodge No. 1758, and a Master Mason of The Grand Lodge of West Virginia, A.F. & A.M., Bailey Lodge No. 137, Montcalm, WV, the A&A Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, S.J., U.S.A., Valley of Bluefield, Orient of West Virginia, and the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, S.J., U.S.A., Valley of Charleston, Orient of West Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Joanna Patricia (Pat) Munsey, in 2009. He was also preceded by his brother, J. Marvin Munsey; his sister, Lorene Munsey; and nephew, Hugh Munsey.
Nelson is survived by his son, Joe Munsey, of Alexandria, VA; his daughter, Marsha Roth, and husband Neal of Lewisburg; and his granddaughter, Elizabeth Ford, and husband Jay of Charleston, WV; He two nephews, Steve Munsey and Mike Munsey; and niece, Mary Beth Kitts.
A private memorial service will be held Feb. 17, with Rev. Ike Hughes officiating. Nelson will be interred with his wife at Greenbrier Memorial Gardens in Lewisburg.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his memory be made to Peyton Hospice House or the Greenbrier Valley Shrine Club.
