Greenbrier Valley Theatre (GVT), in partnership with The Met: Live in HD, presents Puccini’s tragedy Tosca.
The live stream will be on Jan. 27 at 12:55 p.m. The simulcast will run approximately three hours and 40 minutes with two intermissions. Dr. James Caplinger, from the University of Charleston, will give a complimentary lecture beginning at 12:15 p.m.

The production will star Sonya Yoncheva making her title role debut, alongside Vittorio Grigolo as her lover Cavaradossi and Željko Lučić as the villainous Scarpia. The production will be conducted by the highly acclaimed Bertrand de Billy.

Yoncheva made her Met debut in 2013. Along with the title of role in Tosca, she will also be appearing at the Met in the title role of Luisa Miller and Mimi in La Bohème. Her costar Grigolo will be returning to the Met this season as Hoffmann in Les Contes d’Hoffmann, and Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor. Lučić can be seen as Alfio in Cavalleria Rusticana.
The program is presented with financial assistance from the WV Division of Culture & History, and the National Endowment for the Arts, with approval from the WV Commission on the Arts.
