Four members of the Lewisburg Police Department were recently honored for their efforts in Highway Safety Enforcement. The Governor’s Southern Regional Highway Safety Awards banquet was held in Beckley on Dec. 19, The Southern Region is comprised of 37 police departments in Raleigh, Summers, Fayette, Nicholas, Braxton, Pocahontas and Greenbrier counties. Lt. Paul Blume of the Beckley Police Department is the coordinator of the Southern Regional Highway Safety Program.
Patrolman Alex Workman received an award for “Target Red” which is an award for red light enforcement. Patrolman David Rexford was recognized as one the top DUI enforcement officers in the region with a “Top Dawg” award. Deputy Chief Chris Teubert and Corporal Jonathan Hughes both received the Traffic Enforcement ACE award for consistent enforcement of all traffic laws. The police department also received and outstanding service award for overall traffic activities.
