2017 Mountaineer Summer Horseshoe League standings released

Jerry Davis from Lewisburg has been announced the winner of the 2017 Mountaineer Summer Horseshoe League, while second place went to Jerry Wykle of Frankford and third place to Charlie Brow of Springdale.

Other award winners include Allen Withrow of Ronceverte with a high average for the season, 55.9 ringer percent; 102.3 points per game average, and high game for season 72.0 ringer percent; with an 118 point game. Solomon Simmons of Lewisburg had the high game over average, with a season average of 54.3 points, and a high game of 77.0 points.

Most improved for the year with a 2016 average 67.0 points, and 75.6 points for 2017, is Jerry Davis. The sportsmanship award went to Frank Highlander of Union, and the rookie of the year award went to Jack Reed of Alderson.

The league would like to thanks Fritz’s Pharmacy for sponsoring the league this summer and donating the league trophies. The Mountaineer Horseshoe League will be hosting the 81st West Virginia State horseshoe tournament Aug. 24 and 25 at Island Park courts.

The 2018 League play will be starting late May 2018, hope to have many new pitchers.
