Recently Tom Crabtree, president of Homes for White Sulphur Springs, received a phone call informing him of a gift of $55,000 to Homes for White Sulphur Springs.
“I was surprised and delighted. I did not know the individuals nor was I familiar with the important work of the Seneca Trail Charitable Foundation on the day we received the call. The fact that this gift was totally unsolicited makes the donation all the more special. We were told that officers of the Seneca Foundation recognize our work, accomplished and underway, to help families and White Sulphur Springs recover from the June 2016 flood. hey were impressed with the results we are achieving as a volunteer organization,” said Crabtree.
Chuck Lewis, president of the Seneca Trail Charitable Foundation, quietly announced the gift earlier this year. He indicated “that this is just the kind of work we seek to support. Homes for WSS is an organization that exemplifies the best of 501(c)(3) work. Their funds are held by the Greenbrier Valley Community Foundation. GVCF is well managed and provides outstanding fiscal guidance with 100 percent transparency. Homes for WSS has demonstrated results. We watched their mission expand beyond helping families directly impacted by the flood to include creating and restoring parks in WSS and supporting economic development by providing revenue streams for Main Street White Sulphur Springs. The impact of their work will live on after they complete their work at Hope Village. We are proud to support them.”
