The Ronceverte Volunteer Fire Department will hold their annual Stocking Giveaway event at the Armory building on Sunday, Dec. 24, starting at 2 p.m. This long-standing Christmas program has been in operation since the 1940s, and is open to any child that shows up. There are no registration requirements or limitations, said Mayor David Smith, during the Monday night city council meeting. Anyone interested in donating to this wonderful cause should contact Premier Bank in Ronceverte.
The mayor also announced that the Lions Club has opened their Saturday basketball games at the old Ronceverte High School gymnasium in which up to 200 kids participate weekly. The public is invited to come and watch the games held in the afternoons on Saturdays.
The next city council meeting will be held on the second Monday evening of the month on Jan. 8, 2018, at 7 p.m.
