White Sulphur Springs – Carl Dexter Cunningham, Sr., 77, peacefully went to be with the Lord from his earthly home on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017.
Carl was born Jan. 23, 1940, in Hettie, Braxton County, to the late Charles Ercel and Lula Ann Blagg Cunningham.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and was of the Methodist Faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Kenneth, Argyle, and Dennis; sisters, Mary, Evalina Hyde, and Carolyn Biggers.
He was survived by his cherished wife of 58 years and nine months, Dorothy Mae Street Cunningham; children, Tamera Fraley of White Sulphur Springs, Carl Cunningham, Jr. (Laura) of Croton, OR, and Deanna Shamsher (Taizoon) of Reynoldsburg, OH; grandchildren, Kristina Bigler (Ronald) of Virginia, Karyl Cunningham (James Hollingshead) of Ohio, Nafisa Shamsher (Bryce Kennedy) of Ohio, Ali Shams her (Misty) of Texas, Tiffany Brewster (Brad Burns) of West Virginia, Jefferson Fraley (Mary Hurley) of West Virginia; great-grandchildren, Noah, Samuel, and Zoe Sharnsher and coming in 2018, Winston Joseph Kennedy and baby Bigler; sisters, Stella Meyer (Fred), and Pearl Langdon (Bill) all of Ohio; brothers, Charles (Elizabeth), Loy, Ernest (Cathy), and Michael (Judy) all of West Virginia; brothers-in-law, Daniel Biggers of Ohio, Jesse Hyde of Florida; and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Friends called Tuesday evening, Dec. 5, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in White Sulphur Springs.
Friends visited the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home, Flatwoods, Thursday evening, Dec. 7, and again Friday, Dec. 8, until time of the funeral services at 1 p.m. with interment to follow at the Green Hill Cemetery at Green Hill, WV.
