We sent 11 wrestlers to the Liberty ‘Raider Rumble’ Wrestling Tournament, and came home with four champions, three runner-ups, and two third place finishers.
Drew Bashlor, Owen Quinn, Colby Piner, and Austin Dilly all went 5-0 to be crowned champions. The amazing thing is that it was the first ever High School Varsity competition for Colby, Austin and Drew. WOW! Alex Zimmerman, Landon Hoover and Bruce Humphreys finished in second place. Cameron Zobrist and Waymon Browning took third. It was a fun and exciting way to start the season for some of the wrestlers. We are all very proud!

Upcoming events and highlights: Our first home wrestling meet (The Greenbrier Duals) will be on Saturday, Dec. 16, starting at 11 a.m. Please come out and show support for our team. This weekend we will be wrestling at Point Pleasant in a 24 Team Dual Tournament. It will be a great test for the Spartans. Our “Green Team” will wrestle at the Richwood Duals Tournament on Saturday at 10 a.m.
Congratulations to Jacob Thomas, who was named “Defensive player of the year” and Bruce Humphreys, who took home the “Unsung Hero” Award for the Spartans football team at their banquet.
E.G.M.S. update: The E.G.M.S. Wrestlers went to Beckley to compete in a Duals Tournament. Brad Dunz was 5-0 and Chase Martin was 4-1. Great job guys! It was also great to see the Wrestlers having fun on the fire truck in the Ronceverte Christmas parade.
