The Greenbrier Valley Chorale will usher in the holiday season with a performance of choral works guaranteed to kindle your holiday spirits.
The chorale’s annual Christmas concert, a tradition in the Greenbrier Valley for more than 25 years, will take place on Sunday, Dec. 10, at 3 p.m. at Carnegie Hall in Lewisburg.
This year’s concert is entitled The Brightest and Best Music of Christmas. It will feature new twists on some familiar favorites as well as less familiar works such as Brightest and Best, the lively early American hymn from which the concert takes its name. Several selections will feature solo and small group performances by chorale members. The singers will be accompanied by guest instrumentalists on selected pieces.
The Greenbrier Valley Chorale is directed by Barbara Wygal Lutz and accompanied on piano by Teresa Bryant. The group is made up of more than 50 volunteer singers from Greenbrier and surrounding counties and has a reputation throughout West Virginia for the high caliber of its performances.
Concert tickets are $17 for adults and $7 for students K-undergraduate. Tickets for reserved seats may be purchased through the Carnegie hall box office, 304-645-7917, or online at www.carnegiehallwv.com. Tickets also will be available at the door. Because of the popularity of these concerts, early purchase is recommended.
The chorale also will perform at the Ritz Theater in Hinton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 12. Tickets for the Hinton performance will only be available at the door.
Concert sponsors are David and Barbara Elliott and Nancy Bulla. The Greenbrier Valley Chorale also receives financial assistance from the Greenbrier County Commission Arts and Recreation Fund and from business and individual contributors. Carnegie Hall is ADA compliant.
