The Greenbrier Historical Society will begin the local holiday season with its annual fundraiser, “A Stellar Evening.” This year’s event will be held in the new Student Center on the WVSOM campus at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2, and include an hour to mingle with drinks and hors d’oeuvres.
For dinner, guests will choose from an array of enticing buffet dishes. The musical stylings of the popular Trio Grande, who got their start as a musical group at The Greenbrier, will have you dancing the night away.
This year’s silent auction has an exceptional variety of very special items. Romney Collins and Lee Street Studios have provided an original oil painting of the North House Museum. Collins started her art career at the tender age of seven when she attended a summer art school in a converted railroad depot in Fairfax, VA. When she came to the Lewisburg area, she studied with Robert and June Anderson and also Daniel Green of the Oil Painters Society of America. She likes to work from real life and sketched this painting of the North House while there and finished it in her studio. She will be teaching classes in oil painting in the spring and summer of 2018 in Studio 6 of the Lee Street Studios. Also in the art category are a framed print of the Reverend Sam Black and a numbered print of “Lewisburg, VA” by Edward Beyer.
For “foodies,” an all-inclusive dinner in a circa 1795 house and one at the Old Victorian Inn B&B will be offered. These dinners for eight are exceptional opportunities to share private venues and delicious food with friends. Another offering will be an exclusive wine package.
The historical society invites both private and business sponsors for this fund raiser. GHS appreciates the support, at this early date, of the following business sponsors: Farmers Home Fire Insurance and Stroebel and Johnson, PLLC.
Tickets for Stellar Evening are $85 per guest. Only advance tickets are available and they must be purchased by Nov. 18. Contact GHS at 304-645-3398 or info@greenbrierhistorical.org for more information. All proceeds from Stellar Evening support mission of the Greenbrier Historical Society.
