The Greenbrier East Golf Team played in their Regional Tournament at Berry Hills Country Club in Charleston on Tuesday, Sept. 26. The eight teams competing for the top two team spots were St. Albans, South Charleston, Capital, Riverside, George Washington, Princeton, Woodrow Wilson, and Greenbrier East. Four players from each team played 18 holes on the par 70 course and the low three players scores were totaled to determine the two low teams to go to the State Tournament. The two low players or Medalists not on either winning teams also go to the State Tournament.
George Washington finished first with a total of 230. Torres Kalaskey, a senior, was the Medalist for the tournament with a 73. She has also signed with Marshall University to play on their ladies golf team. Her team mates scores were John Logan Taylor – 77, Colt Gillispie – 80, and Joseph Kalaskey – 81.
Woodrow Wilson finished second with 247. Scores were Jackson Hill – 75, Mary Denny – 85, Chase Childress – 88, and Jarrett Childress – 89.
Greenbrier East finished third with 253. Scores were Colin Wiley – 79 (Qualified for State Tournament as a Medalist), Norris Beard – 86 (Lost in sudden death playoff for Second Medalist spot), Gavin Ray – 88, and Dwain Sheppard – 88.
Capital was fourth with 267. Scores were Joe Kramer – 86 (Medalist to state), J. Ranson – 89, N. Mitchell – 92, and C. Thomas – 99.
Princeton was fifth with 300. Scores were Logan Coburn – 92, Garrett Jessee – 104, Tyler Gallagher – 104, and Nathaniel Bailey – 107.
South Charleston was sixth with 353. Scores were Dylan Buford – 96, Sean Woody – 128, Sierra Haberfield – 129, and Sara Nelson – 131.
Riverside had only two players. Scores were Gage Pauley – 93 and Dylan Bess – 134.
St. Albans had only two players, as well. Scores were Megan Andrews -140 and Easton Thewes – 141.
