At approximately 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 20, a collision between a bicyclist and a vehicle occurred next to the Exxon station in downtown Lewisburg on Lafayette Street. According to Chief Tim Stover of the Lewisburg Police Department, the bicyclist was riding down Washington Street into Lewisburg at a great rate of speed, cut through the Exxon lot onto Lafayette Street, and collided with the front end of a Subaru SUV. The bicyclist made contact with the front of the vehicle and the rider flipped over the front end of the car, breaking the windshield on the driver’s side in the process. The bicyclist was allegedly not wearing a helmet.
“He appeared to have a head wound but was alert and talking,” said Stover. The condition of the bicyclist is unavailable at this time.
