Ten graduates received diplomas in a ceremony held on Aug. 6 at the Eastern Greenbrier Middle School Auditorium.
Jeff Bryant, superintendent of Greenbrier County Schools, and Lynne Bostic, director of Adult Education for Greenbrier County Schools and Greenbrier School of Practical Nursing, presented each graduate with a diploma signifying completion of the Greenbrier County Schools program. Melanie Bradley and Hettie Blair, instructors with the program, presented each graduate a pin and Nursing Lamp to signify successful completion of their year-long training.
The processional and recessional music was provided by pianist, Selena Truitt. Phillip Truitt (friend of Shawn Merrill) performed the National Anthem. Gary Winebrimmer (father of Audra Winebrimmer) conducted the opening and closing prayers.
Kristen Stuckey, president of the class, introduced the commencement speakers. Teresa Ervine (mother of Alison Ervine) and Vivian Davies, RN, provided words of advice to the graduates. Ervine and Davies have been employed by Greenbrier Valley Medical Center for a number of years. Kristen Stuckey presented the president’s address afterward.
Audra Winebrimmer, Brian Boucher, and Myranda Brooks gave the audience a brief history on the significance of the nursing caps, pins and lamps. The graduates concluded the ceremony with the recital of the Practical Nurse’s Pledge and a reception.
