The Lewis Theatre is reopening with multiple extraordinary events. Since 1939, The Lewis has been a downtown landmark and entertainment center, with film and live performances. It is celebrating 10 years of local ownership by ALL Arts LLC.
F3T, the Fly Fishing Film Tour, will be on Sept. 23, and is brought here by Southern WV Chapter of Trout Unlimited. Doors open at 4 p.m. to socialize, bid on auction items, and to enjoy beverages. The films begin at 6 p.m. at the cost of $12.
“Meadow Bridge” (2017) is a coming of age story set and filmed in nearby Fayette County. This film has already won many festival awards. Showtime is on Sept. 24 at 7 p.m., tickets are $6. The filmmaker will be here to introduce themselves and host a talkback.
On Monday, Sept. 25, at 7 p.m., the Lewis Film Series plans to show “Beguiled,” pending confirmation. Rated R, the unexpected arrival of a wounded Union soldier at a girls’ school in Virginia leads to jealousy and betrayal. Tickets are $8. The film features Nicole Kidman and Colin Farrell.
Trillium Performing Arts, the company-in-residence at the Lewis, will host a 35th Anniversary Appreciation Party at 7 p.m. at no charge. The purpose is to thank everyone who has ever been any part of the Trillium family. All are cordially invited to a dessert and wine reception, with music and general merriment!
On Sept. 29 and 30, AQFF, the Appalachian Queer Film Festival, returns to present two days of short and features.
