The Ronceverte Development Corporation (RDC) Annual Meeting was held Nov. 18 at the historic Edgarton Inn. The 2013 Annual Meeting highlighted the RDC’s eight-years of service to the Ronceverte merchants and residents. More than 20 of the city’s corporations, residence, volunteers and stake-holders were in attendance to enjoy the soup, sandwiches and refreshments catered by the Edgarton Inn. Other pot luck treasures were also provided and shared by the RDC’s board members and dedicated volunteers.
The 2013 Annual Meeting was held to recognize the accomplishments, volunteer service, and growth the RDC, a Main Street USA community, has experienced over the past year. The Main Street USA program uses a common-sense approach to tackle the complex issues of revitalization, capitalizing on downtown’s history and the resources of the community itself. Ronceverte has been a recognized West Virginia Main Street USA Community since 2005.
A portion of the Annual Meeting was used to provide an outlet for committee chairs and members to reflect on the projects that the RDC has sponsored, participated in, and implemented during 2013. Each committee chair presented the highlights of the year for their respective committees. Several topics were mentioned including; the development of the SPARK station, the ever-evolving Ronceverte Community Garden; the Make it Shine Day, the beautification of the downtown streetscapes, the Super Sunday Fundraiser, and the establishment of a new AmeriCorps position for the RDC. City Officials were also on hand to share their thoughts and provide city initiatives.
Another highlight of the meeting was to recognize and present members of the Ronceverte community with awards of appreciation for their hard work and dedication throughout the year. This year, the recipients were: Kelli Bostic for “Board Member of the Year,” Barbara Sweetwood for “Volunteer of the Year,” Doug Hylton for “City Official of the Year” and Kathy King at the Edgarton Inn for “Business of the Year.”
The Annual Meeting was a great success! The RDC is thankful to all the hard work and dedication that each committee chair, committee member, volunteer and associate provides.
