Property donated to Main Street White Sulphur Springs will soon be home to the Brad Paisley Park.

The tract of land is located along Howard’s Creek, and is the site of some of the deadliest and most damaging destruction of last June’s devastating flooding.

On Monday, Main Street WSS President Pat Harper told White Sulphur Springs City Council that Tom Crabtree was set to donate the land to the nonprofit. Crabtree, a citizen of the Spa City, has been the driving force behind much of the flood relief efforts in town. By accepting the land donation, Harper said, Main Street will also accept responsibility for managing and maintaining the park.

Harper said that along with the land, Main Street WSS will also take possession of two still-standing homes located on the property. One home will be renovated into a catering kitchen and office space for Main Street WSS and the other will either be a caretaker’s residence or serve as a rental unit.

“We are absolutely thrilled with what’s happening,” Harper told council.

Park amenities include a bumblebee garden, a dog park, a pavilion, a large deck overlooking Howard’s Creek and more.

The park is named in honor of country music singer and West Virginia native Brad Paisley, who has donated large sums of money to the state after last summer’s deadly floods.  One such beneficiary of his financial contributions is Hope Village, a planned community and housing development designed to provide homes to flood victims whose homes were destroyed in the flood.
