The White Sulphur Springs Food Lion is helping make the holiday season for a local food pantry and strengthening the Mountaineer Food Bank network.

Food Lion will donate $2,500 to White Sulphur Springs Pentecostal Holiness Food Pantry in Greenbrier County. Pentecostal Holiness Food Pantry is in need of repairs to their delivery van to help them get food to those that need it most. The pantry will receive $2,500 for those repairs and $500 in gift cards to supplement their pantry needs during the holidays.

This is all possible because of Food Lion’s “12 Days of Giving” as part of its “Holidays Without Hunger” program. From Dec. 8 until Dec. 23, the company will help provide food, volunteer services hours and financial contributions to food bank partners and individuals across the Southeast. Food Lion will donate more than 100,000 meals and nearly 1,000 volunteer hours to those in need this holiday season through this initiative.  In celebration of the holidays, Food Lion is providing 19 special holiday events during “Holidays Without Hunger.”

“Food Lion has been an incredible partner across the state,” said Chad Morrison, executive director of Mountaineer Food Bank. “Food Lion contacted us and asked if there was a food pantry that could really use a hand up in their footprint. We couldn’t think of anyone other than the areas hurt by the flood. This donation will help the Pentecostal Food Pantry feed a lot of people in the Greenbrier Valley. ”
