The Greenbrier County Elder Abuse Awareness Committee is sponsoring a workshop on Friday, Nov. 18, at 2 p.m. at the Fairlea Baptist Church.
Financial exploitation of elders is a common problem and this workshop will assist seniors and family members in becoming educated regarding advanced directives, including Powers of Attorney, wills, etc.
Ana Lusk, retired paralegal from WV Legal Aid in Lewisburg will present information on these issues for participants. Packets will be available, with assistance if necessary, to fill out proper papers. Notary Publics will also be in attendance so participants can complete paperwork on site or take materials home to complete. The workshop is free to the public.
Having proper paperwork in place is critical for protecting seniors from exploitation and for providing necessary information for family members or caregivers when a senior might need help or be unable to make their own decisions. For more information please call 304-645-7842.
