Dear Editor:
I support Matt Detch because I believe he will create a new and better West Virginia. Being from South Florida, I can say that the state of West Virginia was last on my mind. I never paid the state any attention and I honestly forgot that it was even a state. After talking to Matt, I told that this mindset is common because of the poor image West Virginia has. How West Virginia, from an outsider’s perspective, is never taken seriously and is constantly met with a bevy of negative stereotypes. Matt wants to give West Virginia a better image to influence people to come visit West Virginia for more than just college and leave. Matt also wants to create enough positive change in West Virginia so young people can stay in the state. As someone who is a part of Marshall University’s Speech and Debate Team, which is top 15 in the nation four years running, I give Matt Detch a full endorsement. West Virginia has been long ignored for far too long and it is time that we get the change that this state needs.
