The City of Lewisburg has just donated a surplus street sweeper to the city of Ronceverte.
Several months ago, Lewisburg purchased a new street sweeper but was not able to turn the old one back into the dealer for credit on the new one. When asked by Ronceverte officials what they were going to do with the old unit, Lewisburg suggested they might be able to donate it to their neighboring municipality.
On Sept. 20, Lewisburg city council voted to donate the old street sweeper to Ronceverte as a gesture of one city helping another. “It’s always satisfying to find a way to help out your neighbors,” Lewisburg Mayor John Manchester said. “Ronceverte has not had a street sweeper and if they can get some use out of it, we are happy to oblige.”
