Bozoo Ruritan Club is very busy serving their community. The club members along with community volunteers serve lunches five days a week for seniors in our community. If you haven’t tried it you should! We have a great time visiting with neighbors and catching up. Many have commented that before we started this group we really only knew our neighbors to wave. This lunch program has brought our community closer together. Lunches are provided by the Monroe County Council on Aging and meals are prepared at the Lindside Senior Citizens Center and delivered to us.
Bozoo Ruritan Community Center also serves as a recycling center. Many of you have made use of the dumpster that is parked to the side of our building. It fills up fast! We hope others will consider recycling as well.
Our club just welcomed two new members, Sharon and Doug Mullins. We also presented our annual Build Your Dollars Scholarship for 2017 to Christopher Yopp who is a graduate of Ballard Christian School and is currently attending Bluefield State College. Chris says he wants to pursue a career in the medical field. We’re behind you, Chris!
Our club has several upcoming events so we hope you will come see us and support our efforts.
• We will be picking up trash along Bozoo Road on Sept. 24, so please slow down!
• We will have a booth set up at the Heritage Festival in Peterstown on Oct. 8. We’d love for you to stop by and talk with us. We love to talk about Ruritan and want everyone to know what Ruritan really does!
• We will be having a Bean Supper on Oct. 15 from 5-7 p.m. The cost for your meal will be $6/adult and $4 children. We would like to invite any candidates running for office in the November election to attend and speak to our attendees. This would include any candidates from Mercer, Monroe and Summers County! All proceeds will go toward our scholarship fund and other community projects.
