Greenbrier Valley Theatre presents ‘Pump Boys and Dinettes’

Greenbrier Valley Theatre (GVT), the State Professional Theatre of West Virginia, presents “Pump Boys and Dinettes.” This carefree musical runs Sept. 7-10 and Sept. 14-17 at 7:30 p.m. with a matinee performance Sept. 10 at 2:30 p.m.
Tickets are $30 for general admission, $27 for seniors and $20 for children/students. For tickets or more information, call GVT’s Box Office at 304-645-3838 or visit www.gvtheatre.org.
At a lonely gas station across the street from an empty diner on Highway 57, four gas station attendants and two waitresses share their day through music and humor. This country western musical shows us how we can find joy in the simplest of ways.
“Pump Boys and Dinettes” was first seen at GVT in 1996 at The Barn behind the airport. It’s been 20 years, but such a production is always fun to watch.
“The music and spirit of the show is timeless and very entertaining,” Artistic Director Cathey Sawyer said.
GVT’s Music Director Kermit Medsker is helping to keep the show enjoyable. Medsker portrayed L.M. in the 1996 production, and he will be reprising that role for this production. Though a lot has changed, he’s having just as much fun this time around.
“The super-talented casts, 20 years apart, are rather different from each other, but somehow the show is the same wonderful romp it was back then,” Medsker said.
