On Saturday, Aug. 27, athletes from CrossFit Esprit and Greenbrier Valley Fitness in Lewisburg competed in the 2016 West Virginia CrossFit Championship held in Huntington.
During the month of August, hundreds of athletes of all ages from the Mountain State competed in an online competition consisting of four uniquely challenging workouts. Upon completion of the online portion, the top athletes in each division were invited to the on-site championship, hosted by CrossFit Huntington.
CrossFit Esprit produced 20 athletes for the online portion and nine were invited to the onsite championship in Huntington. Of the nine that competed in the championship, four earned podium finishes. Scott McGuire – 2nd place men’s masters 50+; Sherry Hawver – 3rd place women’s masters 40+; Elise McClintic – 3rdplace women’s open; Cory Mann – 3rd place men’s open.
