• The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has available three sizes of temporary manufactured housing units that may be provided to West Virginia to support the state’s recovery from the June 22-29 floods, mudslide, landslides and severe storms.
• The units have either three bedrooms, two bedrooms or one bedroom. Housing size will be matched to the size and needs of the eligible survivor’s household.
• All units have a full kitchen and one bathroom. Units have air conditioning and electric heating and are fully winterized for West Virginia’s climate conditions.
• Units conform to federal standards for safety and air quality. They are equipped with smoke alarms, fire extinguishers and weather radios.
• Units come furnished with basic living, dining and bedroom room furniture.
• Supplied kits of household items include kitchenware, bed linens, cleaning products and other essential items.
• As needed FEMA will supply versions of the temporary manufactured housing units that conform to Uniform Federal Accessibility Standards (UFAS) for people with disabilities who require these units. They may have lower light switches; fire alarms with strobe lights; wheelchair accessible entry, bathroom and kitchen facilities and other modifications. If a survivor has an access and functional need, FEMA will modify features of a temporary housing unit to accommodate that need.
