Greenbrier Valley Theatre’s (GVT) Youth Education Program is set to present its annual Summer Drama Camp. Summer Camp is offered to children age 5-14 beginning Monday, July 25, and ending on Sunday, Aug. 7.
“Although we are still coping with the aftermath of this weekend’s water damage, we are excited to open up our doors to summer camp students and have a wonderful time,” Courtney Susman, education director, said.
Students in GVT’s summer drama camp experience intensive study in theater arts. Campers spend two weeks exploring creative dramatics, acting for the camera, scene study, voice and movement, creative writing, storytelling and technical theater. Camp culminates in a performance written, developed and produced by the students.
“If you like to sing, dance and act then summer camp is the place for you because you get to do all of those things,” Khalil Samuels, student camper, said.
Campers age 5-8 attend for half days from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at a cost of $285. Older campers spend whole days, 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., at the theatre for $385. Need-based scholarships are available. Registration for Drama Camp closes July 15. Space is limited.
