Mountain Media, owner of the Mountain Messenger newspaper in Greenbrier County, has offered up to 16 hours of paid time off to its employees. The paid time off is available to those employees who wish to volunteer during their normal working hours to help in the many flood related efforts. The paid time off is available to all 70 employees that work for the company throughout West Virginia and southwest Virginia.
Mountain Media owns and operates a dozen community newspapers, associated products and web sites. Owner, Michael Showell stated that the paid time off is one small way the company can manifest its goal of supporting and strengthening the communities’ we live in.
Mountain Messenger is a Mountain Media publication, which also produces The Pocahontas Times, Clay County Free Press, The Shinnston News and Harrison County Journal and The Parsons Advocate in West Virginia. Mountain Media also produces the following Virginia publications: Salem Times Register, The Vinton Messenger, News Messenger, Radford Journal, New Castle Record, Fincastle Herald, and The Enterprise.
