HospiceCare, a local nonprofit hospice and palliative care agency, was one of just two hospices statewide that received a top national award for its dedication to providing the highest level of quality care to its patients and their caregivers.
HospiceCare received HEALTHCAREfirst’s prestigious “Hospice Honors Elite” award by scoring above the national average on two dozen quality indicators specific to patient and caregiver experiences from their point of view. Hospice Honors is a landmark compilation of hospices that provide the best patient and caregiver experiences.
“We are thrilled to earn this prestigious award. We have a very dedicated and hard- working staff who continue to provide excellent quality end-of-life care that our patients deserve on a daily basis” according to Tanyia Montie, administrator of the Greenbrier Division and the Peyton Hospice House.
HEALTHCAREfirst, the leading provider of Web-based home health and hospice software, outsourced billing and coding services, and Deyta Analytics, announced the recipients of the fourth annual Hospice Honors at the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization’s Management and Leadership Conference in National Harbor, MD.
Award criteria are based on Hospice CAHPS (Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) survey results for an evaluation period of April through September 2015.
Performance scores were aggregated from all surveys and were compared on a question-by-question basis to a national performance score calculated from all partnering hospices contained in Deyta Analytics’ Hospice CAHPS database.
HospiceCare – which was founded as Kanawha Hospice Care, Inc. – merged with Greenbrier Valley Hospice in 2005, and has provided patients and families in Greenbrier and the surrounding counties with the same quality end-of-life palliative care and bereavement services they have grown to expect from a local hospice provider.
HospiceCare’s programs and services, including the Peyton Hospice House, focus on easing pain and discomfort associated with a terminal or life-limiting illness for patients at home, in one of our three in-patient hospice facilities, and in nursing homes and assisted-living facilities.
