The White Sulphur Springs Dandelion Festival will begin Friday, May 27, at 6 p.m. with an Art Show featuring West Virginia artists and a wine and cheese reception at the White Sulphur Springs Public Library.
The art show features a diverse number of categories that can be entered including drawing, painting, photography, three-dimensional, textile, mixed media and many more. Grade school and high school students are encouraged to join the youth section of the program. The art show entry packets are available at the White Sulphur Springs Public Library which is located at 203 West Main Street in the heart of White Sulphur. The library will not accept any more entries after 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 26.
The wine and cheese reception will include light appetizers, wine and non-alcoholic refreshments, and music by Terrence Zimmerman. Originally from West Virginia, Zimmerman developed an early interest in the guitar and banjo. His has performed locally and abroad with various ensembles and as a soloist for 10 years. Attendees will also have the opportunity to view the newest addition to the library’s West Virginia Room: a collection of scrapbooks chronicling the history of White Sulphur Springs. These detailed archives have been graciously donated by the Howerton Family.
A ticket for the reception/art show costs $10. The Dandelion Festival organizers have generously decided to donate all proceeds from the wine & cheese reception to the White Sulphur Springs Library. The art show can be viewed for free on Saturday, May 28, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sunday, May 29, 1-3 p.m.
The wine & cheese reception is just one of the Dandelion Festival events sponsored by the Greenbrier Sporting Club, WSS Old White Garden Club, Vines & Grinds, and Capitol Beverage and the White Sulphur Springs Library Board of Trustees. Please call the WSS Library at 304-536-1171 if you have any questions.
