The West Virginia state meet was held in Beckley on Mar. 12-13. Southern Elite Gymnastics and Cheer had gymnasts competing in Levels 3, 4 and 5.
The Level 5 team had a fantastic meet placing second in the team competition and winning several individual titles. With only three girls on the team, every score counted, and the gymnasts went out and hit solid routines to claim their second place finish. Kylie Criddle put in four solid performances and won the balance beam, uneven bars and the all-around title in her age group. Ryan White won Floor with a 9.225 and Vault with an 8.95 and claimed fourth in the all-around. Bailey Caraway won Vault in her age group with a 9.2 and placed fifth in the all-around.
The Level 4 team had strong showing as well with many top finishers. Brenna Witt performed a nearly flawless beam routine and placed second in that event. She put in solid performances on all events including a score of 9.1 on the floor exercise and placed third in the all-around. Claire Wills placed third on floor with a score of 9.2, and fifth in the all-around. Kylea Wykle won third place on the floor exercise with her highest score of the year, a 9.375. She placed sixth in the all-around. Kaylee Wiant capped off a successful season with a seventh place finish in the all-around. Edie McMillion earned her highest vault score of the year placing sixth and put up strong performances on the other events as well. Mollie Pack had her strongest meet of the season earning her highest all-around score of the year.
The Level 3 team had some shining moments as well. In her first year of competition, Reagan Cline dominated the competition on beam winning first place with an 8.925. She placed fourth on the floor with a 9.15, fourth on vault with a 9.2 and fourth on bars to finish third in the all-around! Madison Keeling performed well and finished fourth on the floor with a 9.125, fifth on the bars and fifth in the all-around. Laci Ryder finished fourth on beam, fifth on bars and fifth in the all-around, and Noelle McClintic placed fourth on the floor with a 9.125 and fifth in the all-around.
Southern Elite had a large Level 3 team this year and they are proud of the accomplishments of each of the gymnasts. Other team members who competed in the meet include Sophia Landers, Zoe Tatgenhorst, Ashlynn Pipkin, Rozalyn Humphreys, Campbell Bundy and Alyssia Ratliff. They all progressed well throughout the season and all qualified the state championships.
