Greenbrier Medical Arts Pharmacy and Lewisburg Police Dept. conduct Earth Day drug disposal event

Earth Day was first celebrated in 1970, with Apr. 22 officially earmarked as a day to make positive, sustainable environmental changes in all communities that help keep the planet healthy.

For the fourth consecutive year, Greenbrier Medical Arts Pharmacy and the Lewisburg Police Department teamed up on Earth Day to offer a free DEA medication disposal event. Prescription medications, including several pounds of narcotics, and over-the-counter medications were accepted for environmentally safe destruction.

“We would like to extend a special thanks to the Lewisburg Police Department for their support of this event,” said Aaron Gwinn, R.Ph., pharmacy manager.

Greenbrier Medical Arts Pharmacy offers an eco-friendly drug return program year round, but cannot regularly accept narcotics.

Help protect our rivers and streams: don’t flush medications down the toilet or pour them down the drain. Bring unwanted or expired medications to Greenbrier Medical Arts Pharmacy for disposal during regular business hours. For a list of accepted medications, visit www.myvalleyrx.com or call 304-647-1377.
