Neola-Nancy Louise Hefner, 76, passed away early Tuesday morning, Feb. 2, 2016, at Lewis-Gale Alleghany Hospital.
Born Nov. 23, 1939, in Healing Springs, VA, she was a daughter of the late Corbett H. and Eugie Mae Griffin Ryder.
Mrs. Hefner was a member of May Chapel United Methodist Church in Neola. She was a former employee of Burlington Mills in the 1960s. She loved to read her bible, play with her grandchildren, and her dog, “Happy.” Mrs. Hefner liked to help other people with problems when she could in a very sincere way and she witnessed for her Lord Jesus Christ in deeds and words every day. She also sang with a gospel quartet for several years.
Preceding her in death, other than her parents, were her husband, Charles Andrew Hefner on Mar. 29, 2002, and sister, Emily Joy Wade on Jan. 20, 2014.
Survivors include: two sons, Andrew Lucas Hefner (Heather) and George Frederick Hefner (Sonia), all of Neola; grandchildren, LeAnna Heftier Boggs, Cora Mae Hefner, Charles David Hefner and Remmington Hefner; and great- grandchildren, Natalie Boggs and Dwight Boggs.
Her funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 5, at May Chapel United Methodist Church in Neola with Rev. Gerald Roberts and Rev. Buck Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation was held Thursday evening, Feb. 4, at Shanklin Funeral Home, White Sulphur Springs.
