White Sulphur Springs-Syna Jean Vaughan, 38, passed away peacefully on Monday, Dec. 21, 2015.
Syna was born Apr. 25, 1977, in Clifton Forge, VA. She was the fourth child of six, and the eldest daughter born to Tamra and Wayne Vaughan.
Raised in White Sulphur Springs, Syna moved to Charlotte, NC, shortly after graduating from Greenbrier East High School in June of 1995. Syna lived in Charlotte for over 17 years, returning to White Sulphur Springs in 2013.
Syna worked as a life guard, ski/snowboard instructor, waitress, retail manager, and shipping specialist up until her greatest achievement of becoming a stay at home mother, making jewelry in her spare time.
Syna was preceded in death by her father, Ronald “Wayne” Vaughan; grandparents, Ira and Doris Young and Donald and Gwendolyn Vaughan.
Syna is survived by her son, Charles Echo Carpenter; mother and stepfather, Tamra Vaughan Humphreys and Larry “Shultz” Humphreys; brothers and sister, Chavis Vaughan, Myron and Jennifer Vaughan, Ari Vaughan, Hank Vaughan and Amy Yates and Barack Vaughan; nieces and nephews, Garrett, Ty, Isabell, Hunter, Rylan, Trac, Lilly, Asher; stepsister, Meta Linkenhoker and stepniece, Cheyenne Hamrick. Syna was loved deeply by and leaves behind her sole mate, Todd Youngblood.
Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 2, at Rhema Christian Center located in Lewisburg. The family will receive visitation from 12 noon to 2 p.m. The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Stewart Farley officiating. Burial will be immediately after the services at Maple Dale Cemetery in White Sulphur Springs, where she will be laid to rest beside her father. We will follow the services with celebration of life dinner at the White Sulphur Springs Civic Center in the Ware Room for friends and family.
