Ring in the holidays with GVT’s musical adaptation of Dickens’ timeless tale of redemption. The Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future lead heartless Ebenezer Scrooge on a journey through his childhood innocence to the cold and lonely death that awaits him. After seeing what he has made of his life, Scrooge realizes that compassion and generosity are more powerful than all the money in the world.
“A Christmas Carol” is always an exciting event at GVT because it’s a chance for the community to take the stage. Derek Teaney saw an opportunity to audition with his young children, Braden and Delia.
“This year’s production seemed perfectly timed with their ages such that we had a good shot at all being cast as Cratchits. So we discussed it as a family and decided to audition,” said Derek, who will portray Bob Cratchit.
Derek has been a part of many GVT productions, but this will be Braden and Delia’s first time on the main stage. Though they don’t have much experience, Braden and Delia aren’t letting that get in the way of their excitement.
“It will be really cool to be Tiny Tim and upstage [my] dad,” said Braden Teaney, who will share the role of Tiny Tim with Nathaniel Vincent.
Getting ready for their first performance has been an exciting experience for the kids, and being able to rehearse together at home has made the process even more fun.
“Rehearsal has been hard work at the theatre to prepare and at home has been fun just goofing and singing the songs,” said Delia Teaney, who will portray one of the Cratchit children.
