Fairlea-On Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015, Junelle Thacker Sullivan Hess slipped peacefully from this world at the Peyton Hospice House in Fairlea, with her family by her side.
Junelle was born July 28, 1929, in Leslie, WV, to the late John Ruble and Edith Gertrude Bliffen Thacker.
During her early years, Junelle’s family moved to White Sulphur Springs, where she graduated from White Sulphur High School with the class of 1947.
During her working years, Junelle mainly worked as a cook in many restaurants in West Virginia and North Carolina. Locally, Junelle was known for making the “best pizzas in town” during her years as cook at the former Black Bear Tavern.
Preceding her in death, other than her parents, were a brother, Leo McDonald Thacker, who died in infancy; daughter-in-law, Artie Collins Sullivan; and son and daughter-in-law, Barry Lee and Francis Diane Sullivan.
Those left to cherish her memory are: her brother, William E. Thacker (Mary Lou); two sisters, Mary Lou “Becky” Orr and Helen Mae Knighton; sons, Robert W. Sullivan (Tina) and Emmett W. Sullivan (Kim); daughter, Dee R. Sullivan; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
As per her wishes, her body was cremated and there will be no services.
The family requests that all donations or expressions of sympathy be made to the Peyton Hospice House, 1285 Maplewood Avenue, Lewisburg, WV 24901.

Remington Alexander Clark
White Sulphur Springs-Remington Alexander Clark, beloved son of Savannah Hope Maria Clark and Michael Wayne Permelia, was stillborn at his home on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2015.
Survivors other than his parents include: his sister, Michelle Chelsey Mae Walton at home; maternal grandmother, Crystal Clark of White Sulphur Springs; maternal grandfather, Johnny Knapp of White Sulphur Springs; paternal grandmother, Brenda Currence and Mike Currence of White Sulphur Springs; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Graveside services were held Sunday, Oct. 18, at the Alvon Methodist Church Cemetery at Alvon, where Pastor John Taylor officiated.
