Mrs. Daisy Woods went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2015, after an extended illness at the age of 89.
Daisy was born on July 13, 1926.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Daisy White Lucas; husband, Robert; sisters, Dorothy, Malie, Mildred, Omelia, Nettie, Ruth, Estelle and Ethel; brothers, Willard, Arthur, James, Edward, Rush and Calvin; a special nephew who was raised as a brother, Robert “Boe”; her son, Larry; and a son-in-law, Bernard Bradshaw.
Daisy was active in her service for the Lord. She loved her Church and the God she served. She served in many capacities in her church. Among those were secretary, clerk and finance supervisor. She took great pride in using her gifts to minister for the Lord. She was the pillar of her community. Her love for cooking was known by all and her tasty entrees enjoyed by all who partook of her meals.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her oldest son and caretaker, Robert Woods of Ronceverte; her daughter, JoAnn Nelson (Isaiah) of Huntington and her daughter, Carolyn Connors (Delbert) of Edwardsville, IL; sons, Ray (Kenya) and Timothy (Ollivia) of Lexington, KY and James Anthony of Beckley.
She also leaves 13 grandchildren, Courtney, David, Kim, Ashley, Melissa, Brandi, Dasia, Ryan, Romar, Joshua, Noah, James Anthony and Rashera; 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews; and three sisters-in-law; and several friends.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Oct. 10, at 12 noon at the First Baptist Church of Lincoln, WV, with Rev. William Stevens officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery at Sinks Grove.
A visitation was held Friday, Oct. 9, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Ronceverte, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
