An elderly Meadow Bluff man lost his life in a fire on Thursday, Sept. 24.
According to the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office, James Posten, 86, was found dead at the scene of a residential structure fire around 7:15 in the morning.
Sheriff Jan Cahill said the fire was due to a ceramic space heater electrical malfunction. He said the police and the state fire marshal do not consider Posten’s death to be suspicious.
Smoot, Clintonville and Rainelle fire departments responded to the scene along with the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office and the fire marshal.
