Carnegie Hall’s Fall Film Series begins

Carnegie Hall’s 2015 Fall Film Series begins with the showing of Wild Tales on Monday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. Wild Tales is an audacious collection of short stories from Argentine director Damian Szifron (English captions) which garnered a ten-minute standing ovation at Cannes and was nominated for Best Foreign Film at the Oscars.
Wickedly hilarious and delightfully deranged, Wild Tales is a subversive satire that doubles as a uniformly entertaining anthology film. A fresco of rage, fury, deception and revenge, it is an entertaining and jaw-dropping film about people crossing the line into madness when faced with perceived injustice. A lover’s betrayal, a return to the repressed past and the violence woven into everyday encounters drive the characters to lose control and cross the line that divides civilization and barbarism. The film is rated R with a runtime of 122 minutes.
Carnegie’s Film Series is presented at the Lewis Theatre on Court Street in historic downtown Lewisburg. Films are shown the second Monday of each month, September through November. Admission is $8 per person at the door. A subscription for all three fall films is available for a discounted price of $21 per person. To purchase a subscription, call the Carnegie Hall Box Office at 304-645-7917. For more information on this or future films, visit www.carnegiehallwv.org.
The Film Series is presented with financial assistance from the WV Division of Culture and History, and the National Endowment for the Arts, with approval from the WV Commission on the Arts and the following visual arts sponsors: Paul and Ann Moran and Janice Walker Pogue.
