The Greenbrier East High School golf team played an 18-hole home match at the par 70 Greenbrier Meadows Course Aug. 14. Five player teams competed with the low four players total counting. Woodrow Wilson finished first with a team total of 314, Greenbrier East was second with 326, Princeton was third with 349, Covington was fourth with 439, and Nicholas County was fifth with a total of 443.
The individual top scores were as follows: the medalist was Isaiah Zaccheo from Woodrow Wilson with a 76, second was Kenny Maioloa of Woodrow Wilson with a 77, and two tied for third and were Madison Erskine of Greenbrier East with a 78 and Kase Poling of Woodrow Wilson with a 78.
For the par 70 Meadows Course East’s scores were as follows: Madison Erskine 78, Jacobey Gore 82, Thomas Willis 83, Luke Hanna 83 and Gavin Ray 83.
Caleb Haynes of Covington had to leave the match early upon receiving word that his grandfather had just passed away. Our prayers are with Caleb and his family at this time of their loss.
An 18-hole high school golf match was held on Aug. 17 at The Par 70 Meadows Course at the Greenbrier. Four high schools competed with five-player teams counting the low four-player total. Richwood finished first with a total of 350. Individual scores were Mason Mullens 73 (Medalist), Sheldon Baughman 84, Tyler Davis 86, Nathan Bayless 107 and Sheldon Mullens 116. The Greenbrier East Green Team finished second with a total of 361. Individual scores were Jacobey Gore 83, Jarod Whitt 87, Seth Grimmett 91, Joshua White 100 and Jensen Brown 121. Summers County finished third with a total of 397. Individual scores were Nathan Wykle 90, Samuel Wykle 100, David Staley 103, Jamison Hamm 104 and Ashton Bennett 105. Greenbrier West finished fourth with a total of 438. (West had only four players who competed.) Individual scores were Justin Estep 77, Turner McQuain 116, Alex Ayers 122 and Justin Adkins 123.
