Child and Youth Advocacy Center has been awarded a $1,000 grant from the Pyles & Turner Foundation, Inc. CYAC, which serves Greenbrier, Pocahontas and Monroe Counties, is a non-profit organization that works to end child abuse in by coordinating a multidisciplinary response to child maltreatment. Funding through this grant will be used for mileage to provide direct services.
CYAC conducted a total of 238 forensic interviews of children alleged to be victims of criminal child abuse and neglect in 2014. The family advocate provided over 400 hours of advocacy to child victims and their non-offending caretakers and the CYAC therapist provided over 500 therapy hours to CYAC clients. All of these services were and still are provided at no charge to the child victims or their families.
