The ladies of the Henning Church of God held their monthly meeting on Sept. 10 in the church fellowship hall. The hostesses were Marty Burns and Rosie Blake. Carole Spencer presided and Marty Burns gave the opening prayer.Dyan Hefner gave the devotion with scripture reference, Psalm 121. God never slumbers or sleeps, he is always with us and watching. A special prayer was held for a prayer retreat to be held at Cedar Lakes on Sept. 27-28 and those presenting.Barbara Seldomridge gave the missionary education report with scripture reference, Ezra 1:1-3. King Cyrus gave Ezra permission to go and rebuild the temple. We should labor together for the Lord.It is again time for Operation Christmas Child and packing shoe boxes. She shared about Danielle McCarty, a pastor’s wife from Suffolk County, NY, coordinator of Operation Christmas Child in that area. She is raising awareness and money by cycling 200 miles at the end of September and early October.Operation Christmas Child was started in 1995. The goal for our group is to send 100 shoe boxes this year. We will pack our boxes at our Nov. 11 meeting.Jamie Harvey gave the financial report and Pauline Perkins read last month’s minutes.The group reported sending 96 cards, making 29 visits and 43 phone calls. The Unity Service will be held at the White Sulphur Springs Church of God on Sept. 15. The group was reminded about the prayer retreat at Cedar Lakes on Sept. 27-28. Pie orders for apple and pumpkin pies are due back Oct. 1. The Bean Dinner will be held Monday, Oct. 7. The group’s Christmas Dinner will be held on Dec. 3 in the fellowship hall.The next meeting will be held on Oct. 8 with Dyan Hefner and Carole Spencer as hostesses.
