Students at Eastern Greenbrier Middle School recently demonstrated their community spirit, helping to fill local food banks with donations. A total of 4,384 items were added to book bags already filled with textbooks and notebooks and carried to school by the kindhearted students. The contributions were distributed to food banks in White Sulphur Springs, Ronceverte, Lewisburg, Williamsburg and Renick.
Several classrooms donated over 200 items of food. Mr. Winnings’ first period social studies class brought in 642 food items. Mrs. O’Brien’s first period English class, Ms. Renick’s first period English class and Ms. Kelly’s first period English class all gave more than 400 food items. A big “Thank You” goes out to Communities In Schools’ Neil Jones and Drew Nicholas for coordinating the food drive with the students and distributing the food items.
