Prepare for disgruntled crayons, mischievous tailors and love in all shapes and sizes with the students of Greenbrier Valley Theatre’s (GVT) After-School Drama program as they present their spring showcases. Beginning Apr. 14 with the GVTots Showcase, “The Day the Crayons Quit” at 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., followed by the GVTweens Showcase, “The Emperor’s New Clothes” on Apr. 21 at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Then, on May 12 and 13 at 7 p.m., see the GVTeen Conservatory production of “Almost, Maine” (Abridged) and “All in the Timing” (Abridged). Prior to the May 12 performance, Greenbrier East High School’s ProStart will cater a pre-show dinner. Call GVT’s Box Office for more information.
The GVTeens finish off the spring showcases with “Beauty and the Beast,” May 19 at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors and children. For more information contact the GVT Box Office at 304-645-3838 or visit gvtheatre.org.
Performing their first GVT Education Showcase is Greenbrier West High School (GWHS), with “Alice in Wonderland,” Apr. 15 at 6 p.m. in GWHS’s Auditorium. Admission is free. Donations are encouraged. All proceeds go to the Cavalier Arts Collective at GWHS.
The classes have been meeting once a week since January to rehearse their individual plays, with the exception of the Teen Conservatory, which meets twice a week. The after-school classes at GVT inspire creativity, confidence and a sense of community through the exploration of theatre skills. Tickets for the spring showcases are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors and children. For more information contact the GVT Box Office at 304-645-3838 or visit gvtheatre.org.
